Aerial Silks

 

Aerial Silks (aka Fabric or Tissue) is a vertical apparatus consisting of two pieces of fabric suspended from the ceiling. Silks class will build your upper body strength, hand grip, flexibility and coordination. You will learn all the basics and techniques you need in order to progress.

If you have some experience in Aerial Silk, please contact us or inquire directly with your instructor to have your level assessed accurately.

Proper attire: Cotton long sleeve top and cotton long leggings. No jewelry is allowed because of safety hazards. Nails to be trimmed short with no sharp edges growing past the end of the fingertips. Hair to be tied up in a bun or a ponytail.

 
 
 

AERIAL SILKS FUNDAMENTALS L1

If you have never taken Aerial Silk class or other aerial apparatus before, or if you want to polish the fundamentals, this is the class for you. This class focuses on proper conditioning, basic principles of aerial workout, healthy workout habits and apparatus handling techniques. Specific tricks and movements that are taught in this class are:

+Hang with straight arms, engaged shoulders on each side of silks with legs parallel to the ground for at least 5 seconds.

+ French climb on each leg all the way up with proper technique on each side

+Invert with straight arms, no kicks, no jumps, and hold a helicopter or upside down froggy pose for at least 10 seconds on each side of silks

+Angel wings hold

+Dragonfly hold on each side

+Chicken wings hold for at least 5 seconds with straight legs between the silks

+Slow controlled transition from ball into pike into candle stick and back to ball between the silks

+Double crochet

+Clock stick swing

+Tie a knot, adjust knot position on the back after inversion, transition between upside down froggy, straddle stretch and chandelier pose.

Class content: Focused warm up, conditioning exercises on silk, stretching exercises on the floor, tricks and transitions, cool down.

 

AERIAL SILKS INTERMEDIATE L2

Continuation of training for Aerial Silks for students who successfully passed our Aerial Silks L1 class. Focus of this class is on building strength and stamina for future aerial dance as well as expanding library of Aerial Silks moves. Class program offers intensified conditioning and the following tricks:

+Painless single footlock and at least 3 footlock elements in a sequence on each side

+Tourniquet climb all the way up and a mess-free star drop on each side

+Clean windmill hip key entrance and a Scorpio tail on each side

+Transition from double crochet with a back cross into a straddle into a controlled descent with hands holding silks in front of hips, feet off the floor

+Russian climb and monkey hold on each side

+Knee pull over and waist pull over entrance into the tall knot, combined with the spinning knot sequence that ends in spinning waterfall dive.

Class content: Focused warm up, basic skills and conditioning exercises, poses and tricks as well as longer sequences of aerial movement, cool down.

 
 

AERIAL SILKS ADVANCED L3

 

Continuation of training for Aerial Silks for students who successfully passed our Silks L2 class. Along with moving on to more complex climbs, tricks, drops and poses, students are introduced to complementary sequencing technique that allows to build a flowy routine with any size of Aerial library.

The exploration is endless.
