Aerial Silks / Rope

Aerial Silks (aka Fabric or Tissue) is a vertical apparatus consisting of two pieces of fabric suspended from the ceiling. Aerial Rope (aka Corde Lisse) is a cotton length of rope in one piece that hangs from the ceiling. Aerial Silks/Rope class will build your upper body strength, hand grip, flexibility and coordination. You will learn all the basics and techniques in order to progress.

If you have some experience in Aerial Silks and/or Aerial Rope, please contact us or inquire directly with your instructor to have your level assessed accurately.

  • If you have never taken Aerial Silk class or other aerial apparatus before, or if you want to polish the fundamentals, this is the class for you. This class focuses on proper conditioning, basic principles of aerial workout, healthy workout habits and apparatus handling techniques. Specific tricks and movements that are taught in this class are:

    +Hang with straight arms, engaged shoulders on each side of silks with legs parallel to the ground for at least 5 seconds.

    + French climb on each leg all the way up with proper technique on each side

    +Inversion with bent arms, no kicks, no jumps, and hold a helicopter or upside down froggy pose for at least 10 seconds on each side of silks

    +Angel wings hold

    +Dragonfly hold on each side

    +Chicken wings hold for at least 5 seconds with straight legs between the silks

    +Slow controlled transition from ball into pike into candle stick and back to ball between the silks

    +Double crochet

    +Clock stick swing

    +Tie a knot, adjust knot position on the back after inversion, transition between upside down froggy, straddle stretch and chandelier pose.

    Class content: Focused warm up, conditioning exercises on silks, stretching exercises on the floor, tricks and transitions, cool down.

  • Continuation of training for Aerial Silks/Rope for students who successfully passed our Aerial Silks L1/L2 class. Students are required to have French Climb, Russian Climb, safely Angel descent, hanging on the Silks/Rope with straight arm L-Sit hold, bent arm Inversion, single Footlock. The focus of this class is on building strength and stamina as well as expanding library of Aerial Silks and Aerial Rope moves through learning a sequence of tricks and transitions together on these apparatus. Class program offers intensified conditioning exercises besides tricks sequences.

    Class content: Focused warm up, basic skills and conditioning exercises, poses and tricks as well as sequences of aerial movement, cool down.

Proper attire: Cotton long sleeve top and cotton long leggings. No jewelry is allowed on hands and body because of safety hazards. Tiny hoops and studs on face and ears are okay.
Nails to be trimmed short with no sharp edges longer past the end of the fingertips. Hair to be tied up in a bun or a ponytail.
